(Class instructed in Cantonese)
“Lampworking" is a type of glasswork where glass rods are heated to a molten state and shaped with tools. It is widely used to create artwork, including jewellery and ornaments. In this class, you can make cube-shaped glass beads of your favourite colours and touch up the engraved letters by applying gold or silver paints to create your own accessories.
You will be introduced to the basics of glass rods and some simple shaping tools. You will be briefed about the safety precautions and learn to operate a torch. You will also learn how to shape and anneal glass, and engrave and colour letters on the beads.
*Beads may crack as a result of inadequate temperature control during annealing.* You may expect to make 3-6 cube-shaped, engraved glass beads, which can be turned into a necklace or bracelet.
Remarks
The fee covers the glass and a stainless stain necklace (16-18 inch). The required tools and safety spectacles will be provided during the class.
