Event Description: Come join us for the screening and get to know Hong Kong’s “Buffalo Mother”.
"Mother of Buffalo" is a 30-min documentary on Jean Leung, a 70-year-old lady’s 15-year mission to protect Lantau's water buffalo. The documentary illustrates a compelling story of human-wildlife conflict and Hong Kong's disappearing wilderness, as urban development closes in.
A post-screening sharing will be held with the documentary’s director, Luis Arturo Tapia, who will share his insights on Hong Kong's disappearing wildlife and urban conservation challenges.
Swire Trust sponsored the production of this documentary to help raise awareness of Hong Kong’s nature. Luis Arturo Tapia, is an Emmy®-nominated filmmaker whose work blends cinematic realism with social consciousness. Luis has documented human stories across over 15 countries for platforms such as National Geographic, PBS, and Netflix.
